Always compare both sides of a suspect note with another note that you know to be genuine, looking for differences in appearance and feel between the two. Shake the note to check if sounds the same as a genuine note (counterfeits tend to be louder and sound “snappier”). Make sure you check the size of a suspect note against a known genuine note. You should not be able to scrape the ink from a genuine note with your fingernails.
