UK Finance, the trade organisation representing around 300 firms in the finance and banking industry operating in the UK, has today announced that American Express ?Charlotte Duerden will be joining its Board with immediate effect.

Charlotte has been with American Express for 17 years and has extensive experience across product, marketing and acquisition. During her time with the company she has held various senior leadership roles in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, including Head of Product, Pricing and Portfolio Management for Europe, with responsibility for consumer and business to business product across the region. Her expertise in the cards and monoline industry will further contribute to the UK Finance Board's knowledge in the consumer and retail space.

UK Finance was established to help its members build customer trust, facilitate industry-wide collaboration and innovation, and work with policy makers and regulators in the UK, EU and at a global level to ensure that the UK retains its position as a global leader in financial services.

The Board, which is led by UK Finance Chair Bob Wigley, has been developed to ensure senior and fair representation across the industry. It focuses on issues of importance to retail, SME and wholesale customers including ethics, financial inclusion, financial fraud, crime, access to markets and diversity. Importantly, the consumer voice is also represented on the board via the inclusion of a strong, independent consumer champion.

Commenting on Charlotte Duerden joining the board Bob Wigley, Chair of UK Finance, said: Serving customers better, promoting innovation and competition and protecting customers from economic crime are key areas of focus for UK Finance and Charlotte's extensive experience of consumer finance will be instrumental in helping steer our Board.   I look forward to working with her, alongside the wider UK Finance Board to ensure we represent our members across the UK's finance and banking sector fairly and ensure we focus on the issues that matter to them, their customers and society.
