Workshop overview:

The Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) aim to reduce harm to consumers and markets by making individuals more accountable. It also encourages a shift in culture and improved standards of conduct and competence for all.

It is key to have staff within your firm who fully understand the regimes and what effective implementation looks like. This session provides a high-level overview of current best practices and the essential details of the regimes, delivered through trainer-led insights and experiences.

You will gain knowledge in key areas, including senior management functions, prescribed responsibilities, and practical guidance on demonstrable, reasonable steps. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to gain insight, share your experience of fitness and propriety in action, and consider any changes in approach that might be required.

Learning outcomes:

By attending this session, delegates will be able to:

  • state the key elements of the Senior Manager’s Regime and discuss what it means for those who hold senior management functions
  • review the key aspects of the Certification Regime and consider any changes in approach that might be required
  • discuss the Conduct Rules and consider best practice elements for ongoing training and reporting
  • focus on what the FCA will consider and expect to discuss with firms in respect of the regimes and their ongoing management
  • understand why firms need to embed SM&CR – the difference between implementation and embedding.
