Workshop overview:

Responsible lending is at the heart of good consumer credit practice. This three-hour session focuses specifically on consumer credit products such as loans, credit cards, and other non-mortgage lending. Participants will gain a practical understanding of the regulatory framework in CONC and explore real-world examples from the Financial Ombudsman Service to illustrate key principles in action.

The session covers the background to responsible lending regulation, the Ombudsman’s approach to credit complaints, and practical tips for responding effectively. Delegates will learn how to apply these insights to their own business practices, ensuring compliance, customer trust, and better outcomes for borrowers.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • understand the regulatory framework for responsible lending in consumer credit
  • gain insight into the Ombudsman’s approach to credit-related complaints
  • be equipped to implement best practice when managing lending complaints for non-mortgage credit products.
