In 2021 UK Finance members will have to implement the UK authorities’ operational resilience policy statements, continue to build their capacity to deal with operational incidents, and deliver a range of complex regulatory and infrastructure change programmes, all whilst grappling with the ongoing impact of COVID-19.
UK Finance members looking for help, guidance, and the opportunity to hear how their peers are facing these challenges should join our Risk and Resilience Academy. Specifically designed to give guidance on policy, support compliance and reflect best practice.
The UK Finance Risk and Resilience Academy, in partnership with KRisk, will enable delegates to develop frameworks, practices and behaviours that instil operational resilience disciplines across the firm.
Following the release of consultation paper CP29/19 the academy explores the principles involved in managing risk and enabling a resilient culture. It makes effective use of organisational knowledge, encourages effective and empowered leaders and enables organisations to deliver on their commitments in the changing environment.
At its core the academy is a comprehensive training course where senior managers follow a two-month programme that includes two, two-day workshops, supplemented by reading lists and downloadable resources. Delegates will have access to dedicated forums to discuss their experiences and receive advice from experienced risk professionals.

Background
The resilience of the financial sector underpins the resilience of UK plc. Financial institutions are under increasing pressure to demonstrate that their approach to assuring operational risk enables them to navigate the uncertainty and complexity of the world we live in. However, it is recognised that risks do materialise. As such, building operational resilience to enable firms to recover quickly and effectively from major operational disruption and strategic crisis events is vital. Set against the context of initiatives ranging from the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR), the CBEST assurance framework for cyber resilience and the forthcoming Operational Resilience Supervisory Framework, this Academy will provide participants with the knowledge, tools and skills required to embed operational resilience into the operational rhythm of their organisations.
