Development of new forms of digital money, including central bank digital currencies, is increasing internationally with several commercial ventures seeking support and several nations already launching live or pilot Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). The consideration of a UK CBDC is also accelerating with the formation of the Bank of England and HM Treasury’s (HMT) Steering Group as well as the Bank’s recent Engagement and Technology Forum’s Bank, and further consultations on new digital money expected. These developments will have cross-cutting and wide ranging impacts on the financial ecosystem.

Join UK Finance and our panel of key industry stakeholders to learn more about the work UK Finance is undertaking on informing policy surrounding a potential UK CBDC. The webinar will cover the investigation of how business models, interoperability, and credit creation could work under a CBDC. The panel will look to the future and discuss intended avenues of work, such as the regulation of other forms of digital money.
