Every year, one in four adults will experience a mental health condition. Being aware of the range of mental health conditions and their impact is a vital part of understanding your customers and achieving the right outcomes for your organisation or business.

This course equips staff to recognise common mental health conditions and understand their role in helping customers get the help they need. It introduces tools and strategies which staff can use to manage sensitive conversations appropriately and with confidence. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of both workshops you will:

  • Identify the challenges customers with mental health problems may face in their day-to-day life
  • Identify the impact of not supporting customers with mental health problems can have on their firm and colleagues
  • Apply conversational techniques to have a conversation with customers with mental health problems
  • Apply conversational techniques to manage the disclosure of a mental health problem
  • Demonstrate how to record vulnerable consumer information, in line with data protection regulations
  • Explain what support options are available to a customer with mental health problems

With over ten years’ experience in the sector, Zoe now works with the Money Advice Trust team to help firms improve their approach to customer vulnerability. This includes assessing firms against the FCA's evolving expectations and developing and delivering colleague training.

Zoe specialises in mental health and, as well as working with the Money Advice Trust, she also supports the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute to assess firms against their Mental Health Accessible Standard. In 2020 Zoe developed the Trust’s Mental Health training.
