Webinar overview:

The home buying and selling market is entering a new phase of reform, with government, regulators and industry increasingly aligned around better upfront information, trusted data, digital verification and greater interoperability. For mortgage lenders, the challenge is to translate this direction of travel into practical changes that improve customer outcomes without weakening risk management, fraud controls or operational resilience.

Recent PEXA research with 1,050 recent home movers shows why this matters. Eighty-three per cent cited uncertainty around timelines as a key source of stress, 93 per cent said more verified upfront property information would increase their confidence, and 91 per cent would be more likely to choose a fully digital conveyancer. The findings suggest that consumers are not simply asking for speed; they want clearer visibility, fewer repeated requests and greater confidence f across the journey, including the ‘last mile’ when funds move and ownership transfers through to registration of title.

This webinar will bring together policy, regulatory and lender perspectives to explore what the Government’s Home Buying and Selling Reform Roadmap means in practice. It will consider how Smart Data, digital identity, Open Finance interoperable infrastructure and payments innovation could reduce duplication and support a more connected transaction. The discussion will also explore the potential relevance of tokenised sterling deposits, including UK Finance’s Great British Tokenised Deposits initiative, to more programmable and synchronised property payments.

Attendees will leave with:

  • a practical view of the reform agenda and its implications for lenders
  • insight into changing consumer expectations
  • key considerations for data, risk, operations and customer communication
  • priorities for cross-industry collaboration.
