Stakeholder research 2025

In 2025 UK Finance commissioned Thinks Insight & Strategy to conduct our second stakeholder survey, to understand how UK Finance is perceived by its key stakeholders and how it can better meet their expectations. This builds on the first survey run in 2022/23.

Thinks conducted two phases of research with stakeholders, with fieldwork taking place between January and April 2025:

  • An opt-in quantitative survey to provide a broad, representative measure of UK Finance’s reputation and performance.
  • In-depth follow-up qualitative interviews to gain a deeper understanding of stakeholders’ perceptions and what UK Finance can do to improve.

Interviews were conducted with a wide range of UK Finance’s external stakeholders (excluding members), including Parliamentarians and government officials, regulators, official bodies, representative bodies and media stakeholders.

Summary of findings

The research findings from the baseline survey pointed to a very positive set of results for UK Finance, particularly its perceived influence, effectiveness in delivering its main organisational objectives and in the quality of UK Finance’s communications, engagement and people. This positive picture has been sustained in the second wave of the stakeholder sentiment survey.

Stakeholders continue to see UK Finance as a highly influential organisation. Specifically, it is seen as contributing to debates in the sector, building and maintaining strong relationships with key people and facilitating productive conversations across industry.
Stakeholders also remain broadly confident in UK Finance as an organisation, driven by a perception that is effectively influencing policy and demonstrating its expertise, as well as its convening power and by the high quality and professionalism of its staff.

David Postings, Chief Executive, UK Finance

Thank you to everyone who took part in this important research. We welcome the sustained positive findings which highlight the confidence stakeholders continue to have in our organisation. The results show that UK Finance is considered expert and highly influential. It’s particularly pleasing that stakeholders recognise the professionalism and quality of our people. We are not complacent and will continue to work hard to maintain our influence and expertise, and we’ve identified some areas where we can do even better in the future.
