UK Finance and its members support the direction of travel and recognise the potential benefits for digital money innovation, cross-border payments and UK competitiveness. However, the transition must be evidence-led and developed in close coordination with industry.  

Our response was developed through a cross-sectoral process of engagement across policy areas, including payments, operational risk and resilience, international interoperability and digital assets. It sets out key considerations for the Bank, including liquidity impacts, operational resilience and participation optionality, and highlights the importance of drawing on lessons from other jurisdictions and the UK's September 2027 CHAPS early-morning extension to manage these requirements.
