Thriving capital markets are vitally important to the UK’s economy and UK Finance members are strongly supportive of measures to enhance them. For this reason, UK Finance commissioned and published a report in 2023 to obtain insights on the health of the UK capital markets. A key message of that report was the need for a market that works not only for sophisticated investors and corporates, but for everyone. An increase in widespread retail investor participation would be positive to UK citizens and the UK economy.
