UK Finance response to improving the energy performance of privately rented homes

UK Finance has responded to the UK Government’s consultation on improving minimum energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector (PRS).

Improving energy efficiency, and a reduction in the carbon emitted from our homes are key components to meeting the Government’s net zero goals. With 20% of the population residing in privately rented accommodation, and 24% of private renters in fuel poverty, it is important that the proposals for the PRS are realistic and ensure an inclusive transition to greener rental homes – benefiting both tenants, and landlords across England and Wales.

In our response we set out a suite of measures that must be introduced to ensure the challenge in meeting the new standard is achievable.
