Strong Customer Authentication - e-Merchants

Revised Ramp Up Plan May 2021

On 20 May 2021, the FCA confirmed they were extending their deadline for full compliance of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) for e-commerce transactions to 14 March 2022. (see announcement and details).

To support a smooth migration to SCA for e-commerce, the UK Finance SCA Programme Team have, with the FCAs agreement amended the agreed implementation roadmap and Ramp Up plan. The principles of the implementation plan are to avoid a cliff edge implementation by driving adoption of SCA in a controlled manner to minimise cardholders’ impact. These core principles remain unchanged with Ramp Up activity commencing on 1 June 2021 as planned.

All card issuers have been notified and will be working to this roadmap.
