Preparing the UK Financial Services Sector for the Post-Quantum Era

Arjun Kudinoor is a Quantum Security Advisor at Protegrity, as well as a PhD Student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow at the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics. He earned his BA from Columbia University, where he helped create and teach the course on Quantum Computing and Simulation for Physics majors. As a Quantum Security Advisor, Arjun helps enterprises navigate the intersecting industries of quantum computing and cryptography.

Emlyn Hughes is a Professor of Physics at Columbia University.  Over the years, he has conducted research primarily in nuclear and particle physics. He is an author on the Higgs Boson discovery paper.  For the past decade, his research expanded into environmental science performing studies of nuclear contamination in the Marshall Islands from nuclear weapons testing as well as magnetic resonance imaging using hyperpolarized helium-3 and xenon-129 for COPD and Covid.  Professor Hughes is the winner of the 1999 Feynman teaching award from the California Institute of Technology, where he was a physics professor for 11 years.  He has taught primarily quantum mechanics to undergraduate and graduate students as well as introductory physics over the past thirty year.

James has twenty years of enterprise software and consulting experience providing solution engineering, value engineering, and implementation services for the Security, Risk & Compliance domains. Most recently he has been providing Data Protection and Privacy to empower business innovation within digital transformation and data analytics use cases. His background includes strategy, architecture, and delivery engagements at large, global customers around the world. Prior to Protegrity, James worked at other fast growing Security startups as well as at both Accenture and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Adam Avards joined UK Finance in 2022 as Principal for Cyber and Third Party Risk. He leads UK Finance’s engagement on Critical Third Party regulatory issues and chairs a number of industry forums and committees on Cyber Security, Cloud and Risk. Before joining UK Finance, Adam spent over 15 years within the UK’s Intelligence Community where he focused on security policy implementation and training.
