UK Finance plays a pivotal role in supporting its members who offer mortgage finance for residential property. The UK Finance Mortgage Lenders’ Handbook is a key part of this and plays a vital role in delivering lenders’ instructions to conveyancers as the financing transaction progresses.
The handbook is voluntary but over 120 lenders use it across the entirety of the United Kingdom.
To ensure the handbook is the best it can be, UK Finance has embarked on a significant project to replace the platform on which the handbook sits.
The project has focused on using the latest technology and developer expertise to make the handbook as easy to use as possible. User research has been completed, and the new handbook platform has been developed taking this into account. The result is a platform designed with users in mind, giving them quick and simple access to a lender’s latest instructions.
The way the handbook can be accessed will also be changing, the handbook will no longer be entirely open, and a registration process will be in place to use and access the handbook.
How the handbook can be used will be controlled by the type of user. More information about this will also be made available but the system is being developed to ensure that registration is as seamless as possible.
