Overview

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed framework that introduces cyber security controls proven to be effective against the most common internet-based cyber threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, password guessing and network attacks.

Our workshop provides delegates with the opportunity to fully understand the value of the scheme's five core controls and delivers an overview of how to implement them. Cyber Essentials is jointly owned by the department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport and by the National Cyber Security Centre. It is delivered directly by the IASME Consortium that on 1 April 2020 was appointed by the National Cyber Security Centre as its Cyber Essentials partner.

Following this workshop, delegates will understand how and why the controls and good practice within Cyber Essentials can enhance the security of their organisations, as well as why the controls within Cyber Essentials are being mandated across an increasing number of contracts; the wider benefits of Cyber Essentials including how it effectively contributes to data protection legislation requirements; and where to turn to for authoritative advice and guidance for measures that extend beyond Cyber Essentials.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Have an understanding on how and why the controls and good practice within Cyber Essentials can enhance the security of your organisation
  • Have an understanding on how and why the controls within Cyber Essentials are being mandated across an increasing number of contracts

  • Know where to turn to for authoritative advice and guidance for measures that extend beyond Cyber Essentials
