Operational Risk Programme (Workshop 2): Identifying and Using Key Risk Indicators (KRIS)

Firms are either drowning in KRI data or a finding it difficult to identify indicators of key risks that give true business benefit. This course will enable you to design key risk indicators and key control indicators that assist the business, as well as being suitable for concepts such as risk appetite. You will be able to benchmark your current key risk indicator work against the many anonymised examples that will be given.

Operational Risk Programme (Workshop 3): Capturing and Using Events, Incidents and Losses

Operational risk losses are notoriously difficult to capture even though the analysis of them gives great business benefit. This course will enable attendees to benchmark their firm’s loss and event capture and analysis leading to an improved understanding of the firm’s risk profile. The course will include a section on the analysis and use of losses and events suffered by competitors, again enabling benchmarking of the attendee’s firm to take place.

Operational Risk Programme (Workshop 4): Interpreting, Developing and Applying Stress Tests and Scenarios

Many firms did not have a pandemic in their set of scenarios when Covid-19 struck. Used with care, stress tests and scenarios can show a firm the sensitivities of its risk profile to exceptional events. Some scenarios can be very damaging whilst others can be relatively benign. Attendees will learn how to develop scenarios that reflect a firm’s own risk profile and apply the scenarios to that profile.

Workshop

Operational Risk Programme (Workshop 5): Using Risk Appetite Frameworks, Statements and Limits

The ability to evaluate, design and monitor risk appetite is fundamental to a firm’s well-being and successful growth. Many firms find it difficult to clearly state their operational risk appetite, preferring to use terms such as ‘We have a low overall appetite’. This course will show you how to state your operational risk appetite both qualitatively and quantitatively, clearly and precisely on a risk-by-risk basis. The course will also review the easier-to-grasp concept of control appetite and show how control appetite is the more straightforward part of risk appetite.
