UK Finance is pleased to host a speech by Rebecca Jackson, Executive Director for Authorisations, Regulatory Technology & International Supervision (ARTIS), Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) on Tuesday 23 April 2024.

Rebecca will present remarks discussing the findings of a recently concluded Private Equity focused thematic review. The review covered a number of global banks and assessed the adequacy of firms' risk management frameworks for private equity financing.

The speech will be followed by a Q&A session hosted by Conor Lawlor, Managing Director, Capital Markets & Wholesale Policy, UK Finance.

Rebecca Jackson is Executive Director for Authorisations, Regulatory Technology & International Supervision (ARTIS). She is responsible for:

  • the authorisation of regulatory transactions, where firms or individuals have applied to carry out PRA-regulated activities or functions;
  • the use of technology, data and innovation in support of regulatory processes;
  • and the supervision, as a host prudential regulator, of the UK activities of banks, custodians and designated investment firms headquartered in over 50 overseas jurisdictions.

Rebecca joined the Bank in 1998, moving to the Financial Services Authority at its inception and subsequently returning to the Bank with the establishment of the Prudential Regulation Authority. Rebecca has undertaken a variety of roles including Director of ARTIS, Director of Priorities and Resources, Head of Foreign Exchange and Reserves Management and leading the supervision of domestic and international banks, investment banks, securities firms and trading venues. Furthermore, Rebecca has negotiated European financial services legislation. Rebecca has also been responsible for developing policy, leading initiatives on hedge funds, private equity and new technologies.

Conor leads the Capital Markets and Wholesale team which covers a series of strategically important initiatives spanning primary, secondary, post-trade, and international markets policy.

Prior to joining UK Finance Conor worked in a range of UK government departments including HM Treasury where he worked on financial crisis intervention schemes and was a member of the Government Economic Service. Most recently, Conor spent a number of years at UK Financial Investments, the arm's-length government body responsible for managing the UK government's shareholdings and loans in financial assets, where he was responsible for work on Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley.
