UK Finance has produced a review of the implementation of contactless transit in the UK. This is based on our Contactless Transit Framework that was jointly developed by the card payment and transit industries in 2017.
The report shows that the Framework has been used to great success by the bus industry in the UK, with 100 per cent of the major bus fleet contactless enabled. Customers are providing glowing reports on social media and drivers are the strongest advocates, embracing quicker boarding times and reduced cash handling.
UK Finance is continuing work with the rail sector and Department for Transport on how the benefits of contactless transit could be applied to train journeys.
